This highly respected model of the Yanagisawa line is causing a great deal of well deserved excitement. It combines a wonderfully responsive keyboard with a rich even smooth sound, with a fat bottom and smooth easy blowing top end. The bronze body and neck lead to a more complex and a slightly darker tone than it's all brass counterpart, the TW010. In terms of durability and soundness of construction there is perhaps no better saxophone available today. It is truly an elegant horn , not overly engineered but precisely and gracefully designed with no corners cut. Yanagisawa has produced a genuinely first class instrument.
Selmer's newest addition to their lineup. The "Reference 54" refers to the modern recreation of their legendary Mark VI, which began production in 1954. When we received the first of these horns, we conducted extensive play test comparisons. When comparing this horn to Mark VI's with serial numbers ranging from 5-digits to the last of the line, this horn stacked up magnificently and, at the very least, gave every Mark VI a run for the money. This horn is sure to reveal itself as a solid modern alternative to the Mark VI with a consistency that had, up to this point, been considered unattainable.
The Reference 54 Tenor has been universally acclaimed to be the best Tenor that Selmer has produced since it discontinued the legendary Mark VI in 1974. Now, there is a viable alternative to the legend that is fresh and young (not 30 to 60+ years old). Modeled after the Mark VI, the Reference 54 tenor is capable of rich, centered sound with great intonation. The traditionally lacquer finished neck, body, and bell are hammered from a brass alloy with a higher content of copper than other model saxophones. This softer metal allows for an incredible degree of tonal richness and warmth. Destined to be Selmer's workhorse of the future. USA Horn sets up each of these horns and voices them so they play to their fullest potential.
